Adult Supervision
- Children must be accompanied by either a parent and/or a caregiver
Stroller Policy
- Strollers are not allowed inside Blue Igloo
- Please park your stroller at the bottom of the steps or on the sidewalk outside the Church
- For security reasons, we recommend locking your stroller
Duty Parent Day
- Families serve as “Duty Parent” up to 3 times per year
- Parents, not caregivers, serve as the Duty Parent
- Duty parents are required to bring snack and set up before/clean up after Snack
- Parents can switch dates with another family; please advise Ezree of any changes
- Calendar of duty parent days is available on the Blue Igloo Intranet
Volunteers
- Families are asked to volunteer for at least one Special Events
- Please return a volunteer form at the beginning of the year to one of the teachers, or submit it online. Current parents can access the form on the internal Blue Igloo website
Circle Time Etiquette
- Adults are expected to actively participate in circle time
- Extraneous conversations should be kept to a minimum
Food at Blue Igloo
- Snack is served at approximately 10:30 each day
- Please keep all food and drink (except baby bottles) off the mat
- Blue Igloo is a nut-free zone
Illness
- Children showing signs of illness (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, ear ache, frequent cough, heavy runny nose, etc.) should be kept away from Blue Igloo for at least 48 hours
- Teachers may ask that children exhibiting signs of illness be taken home
- Please contact Jill Smith if your child comes down with a highly contagious illness
Siblings
- Please notify Sabria in advance to reserve a “sibling” space if you plant to bring an older sibling
- Parents are permitted to bring their newborn infants (less than 6 months of age)
- Children who turn six months of age prior to January 1 must be admitted as a “January baby”.
- Applications for January babies MUST be processed with all other applicant
Nannies' Children
- Due to space and liability issues, nannies are not permitted to bring their children to Blue Igloo
Snow/Closure Policy
- In the event of snow, please check your email before sending your child to Blue Igloo
- If DC public schools are closed, Blue Igloo will be closed
- If DC public schools open with a delay, Blue Igloo will open at 10:00 a.m.
- Occasionally, Blue Igloo will close due to events held in our space by the Jerusalem Baptist Church. Parents will be notified in advance
Personal Toys
- Please leave all special toys at home
Information Postings
- The Master Duty Parent List and Roster will be posted on the bulletin board at Blue Igloo and on the internal Blue Igloo website
- Please email any pertinent information to our newsletter coordinator Annie Louise Berman before the 15th of each month

Reservation of Rights
- Blue Igloo reserves the right to revoke admission to any family who does not meet the playgroup’s cooperative requirements
