The Blue Igloo Playgroup

Admissions Information

Due to space constraints, Blue Igloo has an application process for admission, and the number of spaces open in any given year depends on the number of outgoing children the previous spring. In admitting new children, Blue Igloo strives to achieve a balance of boys and girls, ages and developmental stages. In addition, Blue Igloo is committed to serving:

  • members of the Jerusalem Baptist Church
  • children already enrolled at Blue Igloo
  • siblings of children already enrolled at Blue Igloo
  • siblings of Blue Igloo alumni
  • residents of the local community

Blue Igloo does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, religion or physical appearance in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies or other playgroup-administered programs.

The Blue Igloo year runs from September to May. Applications to Blue Igloo are made for the entire eight-month period; the playgroup does not offer admissions for either the fall or spring semester only.

The admissions process for new families has two requirements: (1) a visit and (2) an on-line application, both of which must be completed by Monday, February 21, 2011 for your child to be considered for the school year.

New families interested in Blue Igloo initiate the application process by joining us for an informal visit one morning while the playgroup is in session. Please be assured that the visits are not “interviews” of any sort. Rather, they’re a way for current Blue Igloo children and families to meet you and say hello, and for you to see if Blue Igloo might be right for your child. Interested parents will be able to meet staff members and current parents, ask questions, and, of course, see what happens on a typical day at the playgroup. Visiting children will be invited (but not required) to participate in playgroup activities. You and your child are welcome to stay as long as you’d like, but we certainly understand if you can only stay a short time because of naps or other commitments.

Visits are held throughout the fall and winter from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the following dates:

  • Friday, October 15, 2010
  • Friday, November 12, 2010
  • Friday, December 3, 2010
  • Monday, December 13, 2010
  • Monday, January 10, 2011
  • Friday, January 21, 2011
  • Friday, January 28, 2011
  • Friday, February 4, 2011

If you’d like your child to be considered for admission to Blue Igloo for the school year, please complete an on-line application no later than Monday, February 21, 2011. Interested families are encouraged to apply early.
